According to the Centers for Disease Control, construction has the highest suicide rate of all industries, at 53.2 suicides per 100,000 workers. That’s nearly four times greater than the national average (17.3/100,000) and five times greater than all other construction fatalities combined (10.1/100,000).

In 2022, Allied Construction Industries helped certify more than 75 individuals in Mental Health First Aid through our partnership with Mental Health America.

QUESTION, PERSUADE, REFER

ASK A QUESTION, SAVE A LIFE
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is a two-hour program designed to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us. QPR is quality education empowering all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the lives of someone they know.

The program trains non-clinical individuals to identify and prevent mental health crises that may lead to suicide.

This program is presented by 1N5 and is offered at no cost.

About 1N5: The 1N5 mission is to prevent suicide by erasing the stigma of mental illness and promoting optimal mental wellness through education, community engagement, policy and advocacy, and measurement and data work.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID

Attending this class results in certification in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), an evidence-based course that teaches how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in the workplace. Attendees will learn real, actionable ways to help their co-workers. Includes:

  • Knowledge of signs, symptoms, and risk factors of mental illnesses and addictions.
  • Identification of multiple types of professional and self-help resources for individuals with a mental illness or addiction.
  • Increased confidence in and likelihood to help an individual in distress.
  • Reduction of negative attitudes and perceptions of individuals with mental illnesses and addictions.

This program is presented by Mental Health America and is offered at no cost.
