THE INITIATIVE

Attract, Develop, and Retain Women in Construction

ACI She Builds is an initiative of Allied Construction Industries to attract, develop, and retain women in construction across the Cincinnati region. ACI She Builds is an ecosystem of programs — not a single event — built to meet women and girls at every stage of the journey.

The numbers make the case. Of the 28,417 people directly employed in commercial construction in the Cincinnati MSA, only 3,281 — 11.5 percent — are women, despite women representing more than half the regional population. The talent is here. The pathways need to be built.

A WEEK THAT CHANGES WHAT’S POSSIBLE

SHE BUILDS CAMPS

She Builds Camps are immersive experiences for girls hosted in partnership with regional community organizations like the Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati, and more.

Campers spend a week exploring careers in the trades and construction through working with real tools, real projects, and real industry professionals. For many, it’s their first look at a future they hadn’t considered.

EXPLORATION THAT OPENS DOORS

SHE BUILDS DAYS

She Builds Days are career exploration events that bring young women and adult career-seekers face to face with the construction industry.

Through hands-on exhibits and direct engagement with employers and tradespeople, participants discover the full range of careers available in the built environment — from the field to the office.
