ACI engages in advocacy efforts for the commercial construction industry that:
- Drive policy decisions and legislation that removes obstacles and fosters a growth environment for our industry
- Ensure the voices of our members and industry are heard and considered
- Promote careers in construction
Additionally, ACI is Ohio’s Associated General Contractors (AGC) official Cincinnati division. In that capacity, we both house AGC and act as the negotiating agency for contracts between unions and contractors. AGC and ACI proudly serve both open shop and union organizations.
As the official Cincinnati division of Ohio’s AGC, ACI is part of a comprehensive governmental affairs program coordinated through the association’s committee structure and Board of Directors. AGC of Ohio lobbies and educates the state legislature and statewide elected officials about business and construction-related legislation and policy.
AGC staff works with state agencies on regulatory matters and other business issues of importance to commercial builders. The association files amicus briefs for court cases with significant legal implications on the construction industry. And AGC of Ohio’s political action campaign, AGC Action, raises money to assist legislators and candidates for statewide office who support contractors and issues affecting the commercial building industry.
In collaboration with KYTC and ODOT, a select group of ACI members were invited to an insightful presentation and discussion at Braxton Brewery from the two project leaders of the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project, Tommy Arnold (Ohio Department of Transportation) and Stacee Hans (Kentucky Transportation Cabinet). Myths were dispelled and opportunities outlined for this eight mile, $3.6B project.
