Think of Allied Construction Industries (ACI) as the chamber of commerce for commercial construction in the Greater Cincinnati region. With a network of 500 member companies, ACI is where the industry connects, collaborates, and grows.

Founded in 1929, ACI is a not-for-profit trade association that represents both union and open-shop employers, including general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, developers, suppliers, and service providers. Together, we represent the full ecosystem that builds and sustains our region’s commercial landscape.

ACI membership offers more than representation — it delivers results.

We:

Develop workforce solutions that address the industry’s talent challenges and strengthen the future of construction.

Advocate for growth, removing barriers, and shaping policies that protect and advance commercial construction.

Create powerful connections through exclusive networking events, professional development, and peer collaboration.

When you join ACI, you gain access to the people, resources, and influence that move the construction industry forward. It’s more than a membership — it’s a partnership built to help your business and our industry thrive.

A Bit of History

In the mid-1920s, construction leaders across the Tri-State area envisioned an organization that would unite all branches of the commercial construction industry under one umbrella. Their goal was simple — to strengthen collaboration while allowing individual trade associations to maintain their own identities.

That vision became reality on March 28, 1929, when 450 representatives from the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky construction community gathered to establish Allied Construction Industries (ACI). The new organization was formed through the merger of three local associations: the Builders Exchange of Southwest Ohio, the Hamilton County Building Materials Credit Association, and the Associated General Contractors of America.

Today, ACI proudly serves as the Cincinnati Division of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Ohio, one of seven AGC chapters statewide. This partnership gives ACI members a voice in state-level discussions that shape the future of commercial construction, along with access to valuable advocacy, resources, and industry influence.

Since its founding in 1970, AGC of Ohio has been a leading advocate for contractors — promoting fair practices, strengthening relationships with public and private owners, and expanding construction market opportunities. ACI and AGC Ohio work together to advance and protect the commercial construction industry across Ohio.
